Obama Presidential Center Opens With Bill Clinton, Hillary and Former Presidents
Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton joined Barack and Michelle Obama in Chicago for the grand opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center.

The former president and former secretary of state were among the major political figures invited to the high-profile event, which brought together former presidents, former first ladies, celebrities, musicians and international dignitaries.
The ceremony marked the official dedication of the long-awaited Obama Presidential Center on Chicago’s South Side. The campus is designed to honor Barack Obama’s presidency while also serving as a museum, civic space and community hub.

Bill Clinton appeared alongside other former presidents, including Joe Biden and George W. Bush. Hillary Clinton also attended, joining Jill Biden and Laura Bush as several former first ladies gathered for the historic event.
Photos and clips from the ceremony quickly drew attention online as viewers reacted to the rare public reunion of America’s former first families. The Obamas, Clintons, Bushes and Bidens all appeared together during the event, creating a symbolic moment of political history.
The event also featured performances by major artists including Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, The Roots and U2’s Bono and The Edge.

Barack Obama used the ceremony to reflect on democracy, citizenship and the importance of public service. Michelle Obama praised her husband’s leadership and spoke about the meaning of opening the center in the community where their story began.
The new center includes a museum tower, public library branch, performance spaces, outdoor areas, gardens and an athletic center. It is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

The ceremony also stood out because President Donald Trump was not among the former presidents in attendance. His absence became part of the wider political conversation surrounding the event.
For Bill and Hillary Clinton, the appearance was another reminder of their long connection to the Obama era. Hillary served as secretary of state during Obama’s first term, and both Clintons have remained central figures in Democratic Party history.
The Obama Presidential Center officially opens to the public as a major new landmark in Chicago and a permanent tribute to the legacy of America’s first Black president and first lady.
