14-Year-Old Darius Mabda Fights Back Tears Before Delivering a Breathtaking AGT: All-Stars Dance

Fourteen-year-old dancer Darius Mabda faced one of the biggest moments of his young career when he stepped onto the America’s Got Talent: All-Stars stage.

Although Darius had already won Romania’s Got Talent, competing against successful performers from around the world created a new level of pressure. Shortly after walking in front of the judges, the young dancer struggled to hold back tears as he attempted to introduce himself. The linked video presents the emotional moment and his complete All-Stars performance.

From Romania’s Got Talent Winner to the World Stage

Darius earned national recognition in 2022 when he competed in Season 12 of Romania’s Got Talent. He received a Golden Buzzer from judge Mihai Bobonete and later won the season through the public vote. His victory earned him the opportunity to represent Romania among winners, finalists and fan favorites appearing on AGT: All-Stars.

Despite that previous success, Darius appeared visibly nervous on the American stage. The scale of the competition and the knowledge that he was performing before an international audience seemed overwhelming.

Once the music began, however, his fear disappeared.

A Powerful Dance to “In My Blood”

Darius performed a contemporary routine to “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes. His choreography combined expressive storytelling with ballet-inspired technique, athletic jumps, floor movements and acrobatic elements.

The routine reflected the emotional message of the song. Darius moved from vulnerable, controlled gestures into larger leaps and dramatic turns, creating the impression of someone fighting through fear rather than surrendering to it.

His ability to change from a nervous teenager into a confident stage performer became one of the audition’s most powerful elements.

The performance was not built around elaborate props or a large group of supporting dancers. Darius relied primarily on movement, facial expression and physical control to hold the audience’s attention.

Judges Praise His Athleticism and Artistry

The judges reacted enthusiastically after the routine.

Howie Mandel praised the combination of dance, acrobatics and athletic ability displayed in the performance. He compared Darius’ range of skills to qualities associated with both elite gymnastics and classical dance.

Simon Cowell admitted that the routine initially appeared familiar but said it developed into something far more surprising and impressive. Heidi Klum also praised the young dancer and gave him a standing ovation.

Their comments reflected what made the audition stand out. Darius was not only technically skilled; he also communicated emotion through his choreography.

Minutes earlier, he had been crying while speaking to the judges. By the end of the performance, he had the theater applauding on its feet.

Darius Reached the Night’s Top 3

Darius performed during the fourth preliminary episode of AGT: All-Stars. The competition used a Superfan voting system to decide which contestants would continue toward the Final.

His performance received enough support to place him in the episode’s Top 3 alongside the Ndlovu Youth Choir and Power Duo. However, Darius finished third in the vote, while Power Duo advanced from the group.

Although he did not continue to the Final, reaching the Top 3 was still a major accomplishment for the 14-year-old performer. He had competed against established acts from across the international Got Talent franchise and left a strong impression on both the judges and viewers.

Why the Performance Connected With Viewers

The audition remains memorable because audiences witnessed two very different sides of Darius within only a few minutes.

Before the music started, he appeared vulnerable, frightened and overwhelmed by the occasion. During the routine, he became controlled, powerful and expressive.

That transformation made his performance feel genuine.

It also demonstrated how an artist can use nervous energy rather than allowing it to destroy an important opportunity. Darius did not need to hide his emotions. Instead, those emotions became part of the story viewers experienced when he began dancing.

His journey also showed that winning a national talent competition does not remove fear. Every larger stage introduces new expectations and challenges, even for performers who have already achieved significant success.

A Young Dancer With an International Future

Darius Mabda’s AGT: All-Stars appearance introduced his talent to viewers outside Romania and proved that he could perform confidently on an international television stage.

He entered the theater as a nervous 14-year-old struggling to speak through tears. He left after delivering a performance that earned a standing ovation, strong praise from the judges and a place among the episode’s three highest-ranked acts.

Darius did not advance to the Final, but his audition delivered a message that extended beyond the competition.

Courage does not always mean feeling completely fearless. Sometimes, it means stepping onto the stage while afraid—and performing anyway.
