Ivanka Trump Faces Backlash After Sharing Son’s Knicks Parade Photos

Ivanka Trump sparked a social media backlash after sharing photos of her young son celebrating the New York Knicks’ championship parade.

The former White House adviser posted pictures of her son Theo at the historic celebration in New York City, where thousands of fans packed Lower Manhattan to honor the Knicks’ first NBA title in more than five decades.

Ivanka wrote that she grew up as a Knicks fan and was happy to watch her son experience a championship parade that generations of New Yorkers had waited a lifetime to see.

The photos showed Theo enjoying the celebration and holding Knicks-themed items as the city turned orange and blue for the team’s victory parade.

However, the post quickly drew criticism online. Some users objected to Ivanka celebrating a New York sports moment because of the Trump family’s complicated relationship with the city. Others argued that the backlash was unnecessary and said a child enjoying a sports parade should not be turned into a political argument.

The reaction showed how even a family sports moment can become political when it involves a member of the Trump family.

The Knicks parade was one of the biggest celebrations in recent New York sports history. Fans filled the Canyon of Heroes after the team ended a 53-year championship drought by winning the 2026 NBA Finals.

The parade featured players, coaches, celebrities and lifelong fans celebrating a title that many New Yorkers thought they might never see again.

Ivanka’s post also came after Donald Trump attended the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, where he received a mixed reaction from fans. That moment added more political attention to the Knicks’ championship run.

Despite the online criticism, Ivanka framed the day as a personal family memory and a celebration of New York basketball.

The backlash may fade quickly, but the episode shows how powerful the Knicks’ title win became as both a sports story and a cultural moment in New York City.
