Republican Infighting Grows as Ted Cruz Criticizes Trump’s Iran Deal
Donald Trump Jr. has launched a sharp attack on Sen. Ted Cruz as Republican infighting grows over President Donald Trump’s reported Iran agreement.
The dispute began after Cruz criticized reports that the deal could include a major investment framework connected to Iran. Cruz argued that the United States should not help rebuild Iran’s capacity after years of conflict, sanctions and military pressure.

Trump Jr. fired back online, accusing Cruz of misrepresenting the deal. He said Cruz was “lying through his teeth” and insisted that the United States was not giving Iran any direct taxpayer money.
The clash shows a growing divide inside the Republican Party over Trump’s foreign policy. Some conservatives support the agreement as a way to end the war, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and reduce pressure on global oil markets. Others fear the deal gives Iran too much economic relief without strong enough guarantees on its nuclear program and regional influence.

The reported agreement has been described as a preliminary framework or memorandum of understanding, not a final long-term peace deal. It is expected to open a 60-day negotiation period focused on Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions relief and regional security.
Cruz is among the Republicans who want a tougher approach toward Tehran. He has warned that the United States should not allow Iran to recover economically without major concessions.

Trump Jr., however, defended his father’s position and suggested that attacking the deal helps undermine Trump’s effort to claim a major diplomatic win.
The fight has become part of a larger MAGA debate between isolationist voices who want fewer foreign wars and hawkish conservatives who believe Iran must remain under maximum pressure.
For now, the deal remains politically sensitive. Supporters say it could reduce the risk of a wider Middle East war. Critics say it could reward Iran too early and leave important questions unanswered.

The public fight between Trump Jr. and Cruz shows that even inside Trump’s own party, the Iran deal may remain one of the most controversial foreign policy issues of his presidency.
